I'm so glad to see you looking well and on the road to recovery! I'm only 2 1/2 weeks post-op, so I know very well what you mean when you say it's not easy to sit or stand up from bed or the couch!! I suggest supporting your most painful incisions with a pillow when you get up or walk.

I, too, am experiencing the new feeling of no hunger. It's a strange transition to go from food as fun to food as fuel. But it sounds like you have a great attitude and understanding of this process, and it sounds like you have so much support from your wife, friends and family.

You mentioned going out yesterday with lots of energy and feeling quite tired today. I've noticed exactly the same cycle in my recovery. One day I'll shower, walk around the grocery store, clean a little and feel like I got a good day in. The next I'll take one or two 2-hour naps. This has happens each time I get a spurt of energy...a day is needed to rest up. Don't feel down about that...it's your body recovering from major surgery. And, this may not be a pattern for you for too long; I'm an old lady who needs more recovery time and you're just a kid : )

Again, I'm so pleased to see you're doing well. You're attitude is awesome; focusing on the next steps with optimism. If you start to feel a little down--which is normal for all of us who do this to change our relationship with food--be sure to let your doc know. There are probably services he or she could recommend.

                              Take very good care,
Alicia (AKG1 from Daily Strength WLS support group)
